Top Navigation and Maps Apps Performance in New Zealand Q3 2024

In the third quarter of 2024, the navigation and maps category on the Android platform in New Zealand showcased interesting trends as reported by Sensor Tower. The top 5 apps in this category demonstrated varying patterns in downloads, active users, and revenue.

GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation from AppStar Studios showed a consistent increase in weekly revenue throughout the quarter, peaking at around $116 in the final week of September. Downloads displayed a fluctuating pattern, reaching a high of 1.3K in late August, while weekly active users saw a significant rise, ending the quarter at approximately 8.9K.

Google Earth maintained steady download numbers, averaging around 900 per week, with active users hovering near 3.5K throughout the quarter. Despite the lack of revenue generation, Google Earth continued to engage a consistent user base.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced stable download numbers, averaging about 800 per week. Active users showed a slight upward trend, reaching 6.8K by the end of September, reflecting a gradual increase in user engagement.

Digital Compass for Android saw a decline in downloads over the quarter, starting at 605 and dropping to 351 by the end. However, active users remained relatively stable, closing the quarter at around 2.1K.

Lastly, Polarsteps - Travel Tracker demonstrated a peak in downloads in late August with 586, but experienced a decrease towards the end of September. Active users peaked at 1.6K in early September, showing strong engagement during the middle of the quarter.
